Our approach to educational collaboration
Wexsus works to develop students' skills and capacity for collaboration, connect education with real-world sustainability challenges, and explore new approaches to knowledge exchange between academia and wider society.
We believe that collaboration with students can offer public and private sector organisations fresh insights and perspectives that help accelerate the sustainability transition.
We work with teachers and students at Chalmers University of Technology, the University of Gothenburg, the University of Borås, the University of Skövde and University West to develop new approaches to collaboration in close cooperation with educational programmes.
For programme directors, teachers and programme coordinators
How can we equip students with the skills and collaborative capabilities needed to contribute to a sustainable transition? Wexsus supports teachers and programme directors in integrating collaboration with external stakeholders into teaching.
We provide forums for developing collaborative projects, connect educational programmes with societal challenges, and create opportunities for interdisciplinary knowledge exchange. Opening up education to collaboration with external stakeholders can increase student engagement, broaden perspectives and make education more relevant in a rapidly changing world.

For students
We want to create an environment for students who are not satisfied with simple answers. For those who recognise that real-world sustainability challenges are complex, multifaceted and sometimes contradictory, and who want to learn how to navigate this complexity.
Here, you will meet other motivated students with different backgrounds and ideas. Together, you will explore how sustainability challenges are interconnected, how they influence one another and where conflicts may arise. You will be encouraged to discover the issues that matter most to you and develop by working with others who challenge your thinking, just as you challenge theirs.
As the world of work changes, these capabilities are becoming increasingly important. Engaging with people who think differently will help you develop your role in the sustainability transition while preparing you for your future career.

For external stakeholders
Would your organisation benefit from fresh perspectives on its sustainability challenges while helping develop the skills needed for the future? Wexsus brings together businesses, public sector organisations and civil society with students from Chalmers University of Technology, the University of Gothenburg and University West.
By taking part in collaborative projects, case-based challenges or mentoring, your organisation can gain insights from the next generation of change-makers while developing its own capacity for sustainability transitions. We believe in mutual learning, where students and external stakeholders learn from one another and contribute to accelerating the sustainability transition.

Our principles for educational collaboration
Our approach to educational collaboration is guided by a set of principles aimed at contributing to the sustainability transition. These principles help us develop collaborations that support change and equip both students and organisations with the capabilities needed to accelerate the transition.
- Students are an important force for change.
Today's students bring substantial knowledge of sustainable development and can offer new perspectives in collaborations with external stakeholders. - Mutual learning creates value.
We believe in an exchange where students, academia and external organisations learn from one another as they explore ways to address complex societal challenges. - Diverse perspectives are essential.
Sustainability transitions require insights from across academic disciplines. Bringing different fields together helps build a broader understanding and opens up new opportunities for innovation. - We address gaps in knowledge and collaboration.
Our role is to complement existing academic structures by developing new approaches to collaboration and holistic sustainability competencies.
