Sida's Helpdesk for Environment and Climate Change at Wexsus
Wexsus houses the University of Gothenburg's part of Sida's Helpdesk for the Environment and Climate, a mission that brings together researchers and decision-makers to strengthen global work for sustainable development.
Sida's Helpdesk for the Environment and Climate is a collaboration between Sida, the University of Gothenburg and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). The aim is to give Sida and Swedish embassies access to evidence-based knowledge, analyses and advice within the environment, climate and biodiversity and thereby contribute to the integration of these perspectives into all of Swedish development cooperation.
The Helpdesk is run from two academic environments to strengthen the links between research, policy and practice. The University of Gothenburg's participation takes place through Wexsus, which offers an independent platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange. The location in Western Sweden complements SLU's coverage area and contributes to a broader network of researchers, experts and societal actors.
For more than 20 years, the Helpdesk has provided Sida with scientifically based support on issues related to environmental integration, climate and biodiversity. The work is led by a core team of experts and is complemented by collaborations with Swedish and international researchers and experts.
The work within the helpdesk is in line with Wexsus' mission to strengthen the interaction between academia and society for sustainable transformation locally, nationally and globally.
